Country Fair & Auctions: NoVA’s Best Family Entertainment Value Ever!

A Full Day of Rides, Activities, Rodeo, Entertainment—all for just $5 for children, $10 for adults at YFT, Saturday, Oct. 6

The Youth For Tomorrow Country Fair & Auctions offers something for every age and interest.

Youth For Tomorrow’s Country Fair and Auctions, has achieved the reputation as the area’s most complete and most economical event for families and individuals seeking a day of fun in the country. And even more attractions have been added to the list of more than 50 separate activities for the 27th Annual Country Fair & Auctions, to be held Saturday, October 6 from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the YFT campus near Manassas.

A price bargain unequalled anywhere else in Northern Virginia, the $5 admission price for children (no charge for under three) and only $10 for adults includes all entertainment, rides, and activities, and parking is free. Food offerings—hot dogs, hamburgers, chicken, pizzas, burritos, sodas, ice cream, cotton candy, and more are available at extremely modest cost, thanks to vendors who donate proceeds to the youth home.

“We know many dads, moms, and even grandparents, continue to live within a very tight family budget, so we have always offered a day of family activities with the least expenditure of family resources,” said YFT CEO Dr. Gary L. Jones.

“Our mission as an organization is devoted to strengthening the family unit and one important approach is to offer opportunities for the family to enjoy a few hours together where the admission price pays for EVERYTHING but food once you enter our driveway. We are pleased we can offer families the opportunity to have a day of fun together at the least possible cost.”

Once again, the YFT Country Fair and Auctions brings together in one place a multitude of events that can’t be found almost anywhere else. Despite the large number of attractions and the crowds that attend, the 215-acre Youth For Tomorrow campus comfortably accommodates them all. And because there are so many activities to choose from, fair-goers have quick and easy access to each one.

Joe Gibbs Will Be There: YFT Founder and Chairman Joe Gibbs will host the fair. For the sixth year, Toyota is the Presenting Sponsor and for the second year, Martha Voss, YFT Trustee and National Public Affairs Manager for Toyota, is the Country Fair Chair.

A new feature this year will be a “Junior Rodeo” and Gymkhana performing competitive horseback riding and games. The rodeo clown will add to the rodeo excitement and keep the crowd cheering as rodeo riders compete in barrel racing and speed events.

Challenging field games will be added this year to add to the good ol’ country fair atmosphere! Kids and adults will be competing in sack races, egg in the spoon races, balloon busts, horse races and much more! Come on out for the challenge! Prizes and ribbons will be awarded!

As in past years, the 27th Annual Country Fair offers something for all ages – from the young to the young at heart. Minnieland Academy will host the Minnieland Children’s Tent full of activities, stories, and games for the very young.

In addition to acres of inflatables, rides, laser tag, displays, demonstrations, pony rides, a petting zoo, and live music and entertainment, three large theme areas are planned with activities focusing on NASCAR, Sports Fitness & Wellness, and Frontier Town.

Theme Areas: The NASCAR Experience will feature Joe Gibbs Racing show cars, the Toyota Racing and Coca-Cola simulators, and many other racing-themed activities.

The Frontier Town will feature a Junior Rodeo provided by Larry Sams of Cross State Stables.

NRA Sports will be setting up the Frontier Town Shooting Gallery with an air gun target range.

Sports, Fitness, and Wellness will offer tests of skill and strength, fitness demonstrations, health screening, and health information.

For those who like a slower pace, antique and classic cars will be on show. Other points of interest will include military and law enforcement displays. Fairgoers can also watch as a chainsaw artist sculpts large logs into a Redskins logo, a soaring eagle and other interesting art forms.

Continuous live music and entertainment featuring the local bands, “Cactus Jack” and the “Trey Schneider Band,” will add to the excitement, along with “Line Dancing 4 You” performers doing the Boot Scootin Boogie. WMZQ Country Radio Station will be broadcasting remotely from the Fair and sports stars and other celebrities will liven up the day.

Auctions: The Live Auction, led by John Nicholls and Nicholls Auction Marketing Group, will feature fabulous vacation packages and exciting experiences, jewelry, and vehicles among the valuable items that will be auctioned. Sports packages include Super Bowl and NASCAR tickets. The Live Auction will begin at 12:30 p.m. under the big top tent. (See page 5 for more information on auction items.)

Hundreds of items are being donated for the Silent Auction, which will be available from 10 a.m. until table closings at 3 p.m. Categories include: Arts and Entertainment, Kids Corner, Home and Garden, Holiday, Redskins/Sports, and Treasures. Some of the highlights include sports memorabilia, sporting event tickets, ski weekends, restaurant certificates, show tickets, paintings and crafts, toys and stuffed animals, items for decorating the home and garden, glassware and other items.

The Volunteers: Many organizations, including churches, service organizations, and companies like NOVEC, Dominion, and Macy’s will be providing the scores of volunteers needed to make the day a success. Clyde’s Restaurants has been a major partner for more than 20 years, providing volunteer cooks and servers as well as the hamburgers, hot dogs and brats they will be serving in the Food Court, and donating all receipts to YFT.

The YFT campus is located two miles south of Manassas, Virginia on Linton Hall Road just off Route 28.
