Courtney Gaskins, Ph.D.

Director of Program Services

Dr. Gaskins joined YFT in 2004 as a special education teacher, became the Director of Evaluation, Assessment and Training and Acting Director of Admissions and was appointed Vice President of Program Services in 2014. As such, Dr. Gaskins has been instrumental in the development, diversification and implementation of the YFT program components:  residential, education, therapeutic foster care, therapeutic Day Treatment and clinical counseling.  She is a member of the Northern Virginia Human Trafficking Task Force and, since 2016, a member of the prestigious State Executive Council (appointed by the Governor). The SEC is responsible for oversight of all policies and regulations governing social, educational and behavioral health facilities.  

Dr. Gaskins has been an adjunct lecturer at George Mason University and Mary Washington University. Prior to joining YFT, Dr. Gaskins was a special education teacher for four years at public schools in Virginia and a youth development specialist for the preceding 10 years. She earned her B.A. in psychology and Ph.D. in education from George Mason University and an M.Ed and a Certification in Education Leadership from the University of Mary Washington. She is published and the recipient of numerous awards, including the GMU, College of Education and Human Development Service Award in 2010.
